24/7 prayer and fasting
From januari ’09 with a prayerchain, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week praying and fasting for a transformation in the Netherlands and for the abolition of abortion.
At the moment we see that the times are ‘serious’ and that demands for ‘serious’ sacrifices. Listen to the words of Dutch politician, journalist and theologian Abraham Kuyper: “When principles that run against your deepest convictions begin to win the day, then battle is your calling, and peace has become sin; you must, at the price of dearest peace, lay your convictions bare before friend and enemy, with all the fire of your faith.”
We want to pray for:
- Revival and transformatio in the Netherlands
- The abolition of abortion
Revival and transformation Let us not be discouraged in that we see darkness increased these days. Apart from the fact that the Bible speeks about this (the rise of sin in the last days, 2 Tim. 3), we also have a wonderful inheritance in Europe. Think about the Reformation, the revivals in France, Schotland, Ireland etc. Men as George Whitfield, William Booth, Hudson Taylor and John Wesley who were used by God to shake whole nations for Jesus! In the days when John Wesley began to preech, England was so depraved in sin that prostition was exhibited on the streets and many other sins were part of life. But through John Wesley England went a whole different directions since he had a vision for the sanctification of whole Great Britain. But never forget that al these transformations in those days went together with sacrifices made by christians who lived a lifestyle of prayer and fasting and desperatly cried out to God.
The abolition of abortion Derek Prince said: “The history belongs to the intercessors.” Paul calls us through his letters to pray for our governments. In next June there will be held European elections again. Let us pray that our Lord will open the eyes of our governors so that we may see a change in issues like the abortionlaw and euthanasia etc. We long for the day that our country and Europe will change from a deathculture into a lifeculture by the love and power of God! Also this ‘evil’ will disappear one day just as it happened with nazism and communism. But also this time it will take ‘sacrifices’. Let us be a voice for unborn babies and as priests stand before God to ‘rent our hearts’. M. L. King said: “A man dies when he refuses to stand for that wich is right, a man dies when he refuses to stand for that wich is truth.” Take with this issue also Israel and the United States into concideration.
For this reason its good for christians to stand in the gap together for their nation and quit watching how their nation perishes. Therefore the idea is to start a continous prayer and fasting to cover each day in the year 2009. By the power of prayer we expect to see a change in our country. We won’t give God any rest untill we have seen this change, knowing that it is Gods desire to work through us by prayer (Isaiah 62:6,7).
How it works
We want to incourage everyone to wrestle with us in prayer and fastings to ‘beg’ before God about these issues. Via this form you can register yourself when you want to take part in this and then you can mention wich day(s) you would like to join. We will make a schedule for this so that the fire of prayer will keep on burning! We trust in everyone who registers that he or she will also do according what has been promised. Let us as an army of lovers of Jesus and priests stretch us out to new levels of prayer and new depths of intimacy with the Father. Then we will be able to plead the case of God before men and the case of men before God.
